What happens when a man either faces or refuses to face himself and the existence on which his life turns? Beneath the shadow of the Brooklyn Bridge in the 1950s lives longshoreman Eddie Carbone, his wife Beatrice, and niece Catherine. Life is predictable for Eddie until two of Beatrice’s illegal immigrant cousins move in. Eddie’s envy and delusion play out with devastating consequences. Once again, Miller explores classic tragic themes in this play—yet another of his American masterpieces.
